LISA M. PISANO
Ms. Pisano received her B.A. degree in Sociology from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts, and went on to attend Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where she earned her J.D. degree cum laude in December 2007. After her first semester at Thomas Jefferson, in May 2005, Ms. Pisano was awarded a fellowship with Thomas Jefferson’s Center for Law and Social Justice. In the fall of 2006, Ms. Pisano received the Jefferson Medal in Bankruptcy. In the spring of 2007, she received the American Bankruptcy Institute Medal of Excellence (a national award) for her achievement in her coursework. During the summer of 2007, Ms. Pisano clerked under Associate Justice Alex McDonald at the California Court of Appeal as a summer extern. In that role she did research and drafted five appellate opinions (in both civil and criminal cases). She received another Jefferson Medal for her work in Trial Practice in the fall of 2007.
After graduating from Thomas Jefferson in December 2007, Ms. Pisano studied for and took the California Bar Exam (in February 2008), then joined Lawton Law Firm as an associate. Her practice focuses on complex civil litigation, writs, and appeals. The subject matter of the cases she has handled includes patent litigation, commercial disputes, securities fraud, and wage and hour disputes, among others. Ms. Pisano learned of her successful passage of the California Bar Exam on May 16, 2008.
